Day 90 (26th September) Khromtau to Aktobe

Khromtau looked rather less awful in the light of day with some nice looking single-storey brightly-painted houses visible from the main road. It is a major chrome mining and processing town with massive spoil heaps and huge pits where the opencast mining of chrome took place. The road to Aktobe is totally unremarkable. On arriving at the eastern end of the town we were confronted by a large building with HOTEL in large letters on the roof. We got a very nice room for £30.

Sunflower. The only pic worth taking on the road

The hotel receptionist brought us a tray of tea, biscuits and sweets
