Day 99 (5th October) Nizhnii Novgorod to Suzdal.

An uneventful journey on a road which alternated between treble, dual and single carriageway road which made driving rather stressful. The road turned right at Vladimir and took us to the small town of Suzdal. We had difficulty finding a hotel which wasn’t full and had reconciled ourselves to spending another night in the van with not much food until I spotted the Zolotoye Rechye restaurant/hotel which had one room left. It is an esoteric place; a large rambling building where you could live for a year and still get lost. And full of stuffed animals. I didn’t know that bears were so big. I don’t approve of killing animals to stuff them, but 100 years ago there were numerous bears in this area which ate people so I suppose there was justification in killing and stuffing them.
