Day 136, 10th October, Lhasa

A lazy day. In the morning we went back to the Barkhor to do a kora and found the very interesting museum dedicated to Gendun Chophel, one of Tibet’s early revolutionaries who died at the age of 46 after many years in a prison under the old independent Tibet regime.
Tensing then went with us to look for some jewellery for Jennifer to give as presents to people, but the best shop was closed. So we went back to his flat on the northern outskirts of Lhasa and had some nice momo soup and a shower. Tensing went out to buy some items because it is best if the shopkeeper doesn’t know that they are for tourists otherwise the price will more than double.
In the evening we went for a meal to his father’s restaurant near the Sera Monastery. Meeting his father and his extended family who work in the restaurant was a most enjoyable experience and the Tibetan curry was delicious.
