Day 41 (24th June) Almaty. A useless and expensive day. We ordered a taxi to take us to the Great Almaty Lake, one of the city’s alleged tourist attractions. We got halfway there and the road was closed to vehicles. A man standing at the barrier told us that its a 7-mile walk to the lake and, as it was raining quite heavily, we decided to go back to the hotel. £10 each way plus £2 for entering the national park. A bad day.
This wooden building built in 1902 is now the museum of musical instruments.
