Day 62 (15th July) Yichang

A useless day. The only train to Zhangjiajie which doesn’t set off in the middle of the night or take 12 hours left at 10.24 and it was too late to catch it by the time we found out. So the excellent Alex Chu booked it for the following day. We had no problem staying in this very pleasant hotel, but there is nothing to do in Yichang. Jennifer wanted stamps to send postcards to her family and friends so we walked for two miles in sweltering heat (and eventually got a taxi) to Yichang’s post office where they had no idea what we were talking about so we went back to the hotel and had a relaxing day. The evening meal was delicious although Jennifer’s duck a l’orange was a complete duck including the beak.
