Day 60 (28th March) Kochi to Delhi
The flight from Kochi to Delhi was unremarkable with Air India providing a good service including a meal, but there was a hilarious incident at Kochi Airport. The Airport is ultra-modern and also has plenty of really good staff working hard to help passengers. Firstly, a young man at security wanted Jennifer to open her bag and fished out the packet of Maharaja Curry which he declared to be a potential terrorist weapon because it contained a minute amount of black pepper. Having eaten a really hot curry and subsequently blowing things up for the next six hours, I can understand his logic. After Jennifer glared at him and walked off in disgust, he said (quietly) to me, “put it in your bag and don’t tell anyone”. So he thinks Jennifer looks like a terrorist but not me. I am So disappointed having tried so hard to cultivate my terrorist image. Secondly, we were waiting at Gate 3 to board the plane when a tannoy announcement ordered us to report to Security after a suspicious object had been found in the big blue bag full of presents that we were putting in the hold. We were wondering where to go when two young ladies turned up and took Jennifer away. An hour later with 20 minutes to go before the plane was to take off, they all returned with Jennifer saying how nice they had been and, after the offending article (her power bank) had been removed and put in her handbag (where it would explode less destructively) we boarded the plane and the rest of the journey was uneventful. That is apart from the taxi driver wanting us to pay him despite the fact that Mr Raj had already paid him. Then he wanted a tip, and its a good job he didn’t understand my response.
