Day 74, 15th June, Osh

A useless day in that I believed the internet when it said the Kuldyk border crossing to Tajikistan was open, It wasn’t. 400 mile round trip for nothing. However we enjoyed the truly spectacular scenery, especially the view of the Pamirs from the Taldyk Pass at 3,615 metres, Sary-Tash, which looks like a huge town on the map, actually resembles a cross between a Wild West frontier town and a down-at-heel refugee camp. Coming back across the pass, we ran into a snow storm. Too pissed off to write any more.
To cap a useless day, we drove round Osh to find the Salvador restaurant where we had an excellent meal with splendid service the night before, only to find two half-wits on duty who forgot to serve us despite the fact that we were virtually the only people there. And then charged us a 15% “service surcharge”, Couldn’t even show any remorse, just looked stupid.
