It was still misty when we met Mr Mukesh in the morning and visibility would be very poor at the Taj Mahal because of the mist, so we went to see Agra Fort. From theoutside it is very similar to the Delhi Red Fort, and also contains buildings used by Shah Jajan and other Mughal emperors. We saw:
Diwan-i-Am, the design and purpose was similar to that of the Red Fort.
The Shahjahani Mahal, built during 1628-1635 and was the first building erected by Shah Jahan.
The Ghazian Gate, wich dates to 1030, was captured by the Ghaznavid rulers and taken to Ghazi (now in Afghanistan) before it was returned to Agra by the British in 1842.
The Angoori Bagh is a traditional style Mughal garden.
The Khas Mahal, the emperor’s private palace
Jahangir’s Hauz, built in 1610, and used as a bathing pool.
After returning to the hotel for a rest, we walked about 200 metres to the Taj Mahal. The pics speak for themselves.
